My name is Kelley James. I am the Principal of Union Grove Elementary School. I am very excited to be at Union Grove. The 2019-2020 school year will begin my 29th year in education. I graduated from North Iredell High School in 1987. I was a North Carolina Teaching Fellow at Appalachian State University where I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education in 1991. I graduated in 2001 with a Master of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Gardner-Webb. Spring 2009 saw the completion of my coursework for Add-on licensure in School Administration. Education has been my lifelong passion. I have taught in Yadkin County, Buncombe County, and Iredell-Statesville Schools (which is home to me!)
My husband, an Iredell County native, and I have been married for 25 years. We have a daughter in college. I enjoy listening to great music and supporting local talent, working on the computer, reading, traveling, and spending time with my family. My favorite book, movie, collectibles, are from Gone With The Wind and I enjoy collecting Wonder Woman memorabilia. I am also addicted to Sudoku puzzles and Cryptograms.
